Resumo:
The use of satellite images is a viable option for the monitoring of natural vegetation and its biological condition. In addition to the biological importance, the Caatinga biome presents an economic potential that is still little valued. It is very important to study the connections between the components of nature through spatialisation that is the use of tools capable of identifying the aspects that indicate the environmental quality in order to assist the planning and management actions of the territory. Therefore, in this study was aimed to analyze the vegetation as the spectral dynamics in the municipality of Sumé-PB through the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), for the years 1990, 1999 and 2015, as well as the field visits, consultation of literature and public agencies, use of geoprocessing tools and climatological data. From these data and procedures, the digital charts of this municipality were generated to elaborate the diagnosis of the vegetation in the study area. It was observed that, in the period evaluated, there was a significant change in the landscape, in which the Caatinga vegetation was greatly reduced. This condition was due to anthropic actions, mainly the removal of wood for the production of coal and other purposes, and aggravated by the long period of drought that is ravaging the region, where the local population seeks in nature a survival option.
