Abstract:
The generation of a large volume of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) comes from the current consumption culture and fomented by the programmed obsolescence, which, accompanied by intense and continuous technological innovation, causes a serious problem to the environmental systems, interfering in the whole production chain of agroindustrial systems and, possibly, generating a sensitive impact on the quality of life of all beings. Thus, using the deductive method to approach the topic and using the technique of bibliographic research, the research question is structured as follows: the management system provided for in Brazilian legislation, regarding the management of electrical and electronic waste adopted at IFPB - Campus Sousa, is it suitable for the protection of environmental systems? To do so, it is recorded as a general objective of the research: to analyze the management of electrical and electronic waste in Higher Education Institutions in Brazil, especially in the IFPB - Campus Sousa, according to the norms applicable to the researched subject and its relation with the preservation of the environmental systems. The study will promote knowledge about the procedures adopted for the management of WEEE, aiming to stimulate institutional planning regarding waste management, promoting the best suitability for the management of electrical and electronic waste within the federal higher education institutions and especially within the scope of the investigated institution .
