Abstract:
Companies of diverse segments deal with toxic substances that can leak and cause various disasters. The oil industries, for example, have difficulties in predicting and measuring many accidents that destroy lives, assets and the environment. Therefore, the objective of this work was to perform a simulation of the explosion damage due to accidental diesel leaks in ten segments of the Abreu e Lima Refinery (RNEST) pipelines. To this end, the methodological principles were based on the use of the ALOHA and Google Earth softwares as well as the application of a Preliminary Risk Analysis (PRA), in conjunction with the Pareto Principle, to diagnose the most critical pipes. The results allowed to develop a software application manual, to apply an PRA, to estimate consequences and frequencies, to diagnose the most critical pipes and to propose mitigating preventive measures. Finally, proposals were made for future work on the prevention of accidents in petrochemicals, which could guarantee health and safety to workers and the resident population in the vicinity of the companies.
