Abstract:
This work aims to identify and analyze the process of assessment of learning in the Elementary Education I, in a public school, in Cajazeiras (PB), considering teacher’s conceptions about the theme. The interest in the subject arose at the university due to some negative experiences I’ve had with the discipline and approaches about the theme, presented by authors such as Hoffmann (1991), Luckesi (1995) and Freire (1996). The research discusses the thought of two teachers on assessment practices applied in the fourth and fifth grades. Both teachers are graduated in the Education Course at Universidade Federal de Campina Grande, Campus de Cajazeiras (PB). Therefore, the work is divided into three chapters. In the first one I emphasize my own experiences before and at the University, besides the reason which made me choose the theme in focus. In the second one, I present some different types, functions and conceptions about assessment of learning. Further, I highlight the Federal Government’s oriented devices for the assessment of learning. In the third chapter I expose the result of the data analyses. Among them, it was possible to identify that the Assessment of Learning is developed by teachers, although the tests applied by the Government has been the instrument used to revel the official data. Finally, I report my considerations about the importance of the research, the difficulties and pleasure during its development.
