Resumo:
Ergonomics is the primary way to promote improvements in the work environment for the wellbeing
of the worker, as well as efficient and quality productivity. Agriculture is one of the fastest
growing markets in the country, even with its expansion and modernization, many activities are
still very manual and use tools that pose risks to human health. From this discussion to the study
of the use of the hoe to perform the weeding activity was developed. First, it was necessary to
understand the activity to identify its negative points, and thus to enable the development of
ergonomic solutions. The weeding activity using the conventional hoe was evaluated by the
RULA method, which analyzes the use of the biomechanical overload of limbs in an
occupational task. After analysis, it was possible to prove the need for short-term interventions
in the tool used. The hoe rope was identified as one of the main aggravating factors in the case
studied, since it does not provide the minimum of adaptation to its users, forcing them to adopt
incorrect postures. Then the proposal for a new hoe rope was developed, ergonomically
constructed to ensure a safer execution of the activity, designed from simple and economically
viable adaptations, thus ensuring that the new product is within reach of the workers.
