This study on "The Meaning of Playfulness for Teachers in Early Childhood Education, was held in the city of Ipaumirim- EC aimed to: learn and analyze the sense of playfulness to teachers in kindergarten; and specific objectives: Identify whether teachers consider the playful as an important educational resource for teaching and learning process of children; Knowing the frequency of play activities in pedagogical practice; Check that the research participant teachers experienced playfulness in their academic training. This theme was chosen because of its importance in early childhood education process, as further discussion on this topic is of utmost necessity for teaching in the classroom. The basis of this work was theoretical basis the contribution of several authors, among them: Almeida (1995). Borba (2006); Chizzotti (2003); Fortune (2004); Freire (2001); Garanhani (2010); Lopes (2006); Maranhão (2015); Rau (2011); Santos (2011); Vygotsky (1991). This study is methodological procedure a literature and field research. Later to collect data was applied as instrument a questionnaire consisting of eight (8) issues related to the theme. The participants were eighteen (18) teachers of three (3) day care centers in the municipality of Ipaumirim-CE. It can be concluded that early childhood education requires new looks teachers, the survey results show how much playfulness contributes to the process of the development of teaching and learning, and meet the needs of children. Thus, entering into the classroom methodologies that can facilitate and improve the quality of student learning through play activities, you only have to enhance the progress of the child development process and makes the search for knowledge a pleasant time.
