Resumo:
This work aims to develop an analysis of failure modes and their effects for components of the protection system of power transformers. The methodological development of the research consists in the identification of systems and subsystems, and functions required for each component, using for this a top-down perspective. Then, it was identified a list of failure modes, causes and effects for the protection subsystem. A set of 30 failure modes and 87 causes were identified from an extensive survey the international and Brazilian technical literature. This study can be useful for directing the efforts of preventive maintenance teams, giving information on how equipment can fail, and which events lead to this failure. In this way, the generation of this database allows your use in maintenance systems, as well as in research and development of new transformers projects which aim to prevent failure mechanisms.
