Abstract:
Considering the great importance of the human factor for the good performance of
organizations, the present study aims to investigate whether the Technical-administrative
Servants in Education of the Federal University of Campina Grande, Campus Sumé-PB, are
motivated to carry out their activities. The work was elaborated taking as starting point the
exposition of the meaning of motivation and some of the main theories that surround the
theme were delineated. The methodology is exploratory-descriptive, has a quantitative
character and it was chosen by the technique of case study with application of questionnaire,
in order to verify the motivational and hygienic factors present and / or absent in the scope of
work. For the interpretation of the data, Herzberg's Two Factor Theory was adopted. More
than half of the interviewees considered that the following motivational factors are present:
"work compatible with the duties of the position", "level of responsibility of the position",
"recognition for the work performed" and "professional achievement with the work
performed". They cited hygienic factors present: "work environment favorable to the
development of activities", "good relationship with colleagues and immediate leadership" and
"compensation compatible with the duties of the position." And extrinsic factors to be
improved: "reduction of workload", "higher quality of life in the work environment", "server
training" and "equal treatment". From the data collected, it can be deduced that at least the
majority is satisfied with the work, at the same time that it was possible to direct the Human
Resources Management regarding the actions that can be taken in order to establish an
environment conducive to motivation.
