Resumo:
The sustainability of a company nowadays is based on the ability of reinventing its products and processes. Thus, the application of continuous improvement techniques in business environments has been intensified, this phenomenon has been occurring due to the high level of competitiveness in the market. It is possible to perceive that several problems in processes are solved from the kaizen philosophy, through tools such as, the PDCA cycle, highlighting the diverse competitive advantages of this doctrine. From this, the aim of this work was to apply the PDCA methodology in a shoes company, based on its need to be maintained in the market. The results of this study allowed the development of continuous improvement practices focused on increasing the efficiency of the assembly sector of the industry at hand. The gains from the application were evident, with an increase of 14.73% in the efficiency of the studied environment. In addition, the organizational improvements of the work stations were visible. Before the changes were applied standard operating procedures, work instructions and production control documents aiming to level the work linearity.
