Résumé:
The tourism phenomenon increasingly consumes new spaces and areas, and thus the natural elements become of great importance for the development of a particular region that has its peculiarities. Thus, this work aimed to analyze and understand the use of landscape as a tourist attraction for the municipality of Portalegre / RN. Several factors contribute to the development of tourism in Portalegre / RN, especially the landscapes of the city, where scenic beauty, climate and gastronomy are tourist attractions. For a better understanding of these factors, conducting In Loco searches were necessary, as well as bibliographic searches. Tourism in Portalegre emerges as an alternative to sun and sea tourism, which is saturated in the entire coast of the state, constituting a modality, depending on the geographical location, for backcountry tourism, as it provides the consumption of contemplation tourism, nature tourism, ecotourism, pedagogical tourism and adventure tourism. By analyzing the reality and development potential of tourism which is attractive not only for the climate but mainly for the landscape, it is understood that it should include the local population based on the assumptions of local-based tourism and sustainable tourism, promoting, thus, the idea of conservation of the natural patrimony of the municipality being able to generate more and more benefits for the own population. Thus, it was possible to realize that the landscape in its various forms has a huge potential yet to be explored.
