Résumé:
Environmental Education is currently presented as an effective pedagogical strategy
to prevent the various environmental crises that damage Earth. Therefore, the
introduction of this theme in high schools in the municipality of Sumé PB is
necessary, as it will contribute to a more sustainable future. Being Environmental
Education an instrument of consciousness change for the students, this research
brings as its main goals the perception of the 3rd year high school students regarding
environmental education offered by Escola Estadual Prof. José Gonçalves de
Queiroz and Instituto Educacional Imaculada Conceição ; the existence of disparity of
environmental knowledge among students and the possible causes of the disparity in
the students' preparation for future environmental awareness. This research was
carried out through an exploratory study of quantitative and qualitative character. For
this, a literature search was conducted, as well as a field work with on site
observation of the reality experienced by stud ents, being made a data collection
through questionnaires. The present research was fundamental, since the presented
data demystify the common sense that there is a high disparity of knowledge
between students from public and private schools, besides prese nting a necessary
investment by the school managers in infrastructure, projects and classes related to
Environmental Education and a greater participation of educational actors in the
environmental training of students. This way, students will be provided with the
necessary conditions for citizen, critical, environmentally conscious formation and
multipliers of sustainable practices.
