Résumé:
The present paper sought to analyze High School students, day shift, at E.E.E.F.M. Professor
José Gonçalves de Queiroz, who are in situation of age-grade distortion, to identify habits of
abandonment and holdback between the years 2010 to 2016. For this purpose, the "Final
Results" of related years, filed at the school, were used, which showed that the number of
enrollments on this situation increased each year, especially in the 1st year of High School,
and that the highest dropout rate also occurs in this stage, being almost nonexistent in the 3rd
year of this phase of basic education. Subsequently, questionnaires were applied with the
students in age-grade distortion who are enrolled in 2017 school year, day shift, and who are
still attending classes regularly to investigate what reasons led them to delay their school
flow. Based on the results obtained by the questionnaires, it was possible to conclude that
what led these students to be in lag about their age and grade which they are enrolled, were
the consequent repetitions and these were caused by their indifference about study at all.
