Resumen:
The prison population explosion in Brazil in the last 17 years, in particular, of women in conflict with the law brings us reflections on gender, patriarchal system, punishment and the power to punish based on biological characters. The objective of this work is to draw a local profile in parallel with the national, analyze and understand prison space based on women's own perceptions that compose it and to confront the discourse of Law 7.210 / 84 Criminal Execution Law with situations exposed by women. To obtain these objectives, we opted for the technique of bibliographical and documentary research, a questionnaire with 17 questions that focused on the following aspects: age, marital status, color, religion, profession, state of residence before prison, city where resided, if has children and quantity, who is the current responsible for the children, income before prison and domestic violence, then tabulate and analyze the data for later we applied a semi-structured interview with four women who participated in the questionnaire, questions about the applicability of the CEL and its relation to the prison space, interpersonal relations that also constitute the space. These data were structured according to the content analysis of the interviews in individual syntheses, they pointed to non-compliance with the CEL in several aspects such as material assistance, health, legal, educational. It has been shown that women are not only deprived of their liberty, but of minimum conditions to fulfill his sentence with dignity. Search and investigate the current prison situation of imprisoned women in the Female Public Chain of the municipality of Cajazeiras brings us geographical reflections regarding the space used by the State as an institution of power to punish the transgressors without considering their subjectivities as women.
