The slaughterhouse is a place where you can find all types of animals to be slaughtered, then all the meat is supplied to neighboring towns or establishments in the region. In view of this the growth of slaughterhouses has been an alarming factor for the issues related to the environment. The demand for beef made the number of slaughterhouses increase indiscriminately and, consequently, the generation and destination of the waste generated in such activity. Thus, the socio-environmental diagnosis was investigated to evaluate the impacts of the activities carried out in the Sumé-PB public slaughterhouse. The purpose of this study is to identify the main environmental impacts caused by the activities carried out at the slaughterhouse. The research was carried out from July to September 2016, for which a questionnaire was applied with open and closed questions related to social, environmental and economic factors for the interviewees, photographic records were made. The results indicate that the waste is discarded in the open air without any kind of care or concern for the residents of that locality, the analysis of the data showed that a large part of the residents of the Mandiriaruneighborhood of Paraíba Western Cariri complains about the waste because it is too much trouble To smell, the existence of vectors from the activities. The results obtained highlight the question of the residents not having any benefit from carrying out the activities coming from the slaughterhouse, directly or indirectly. A majority of respondents reported that they did not know the destination of the final product of the activities carried out in the area, and thus giving rise to a devaluation, the commercial loss of the property near the activities carried out in the Sumé-PB public slaughterhouse. After surveying the environmental impacts related to the Sumé public slaughterhouse, all the work shows this concern of an improvement in question to the residues coming from the activities related to the slaughter of animals in that locality. Looking for more and more alternatives for a good production without harming the environment.
