Resumen:
The research aimed to evaluate the floristic richness of the regenerating stratum in an area of riparian forest in the municipality of Serra Branca (7º30'07.0 "S and 36º42'14.5" W; 516m altitude). The floristic survey was performed by exploratory walk and for the quantitative analysis of the individuals were arranged 50 plots 1x1m. The flora of the regenerating stratum in the riverside area was represented by 19 species distributed in 10 families and 18 genera. The families with the largest number of species and genera in the shrub-tree stratum were Fabaceae, Euphorbiaceae and Cactaceae. Most genera have only one species, leaving only one genus with two species. In the 50 plots evaluated there were a total of 31 individuals distributed in six species, six genera and five families. Therefore, the data offer important contributions to strengthen strategies for ecological restoration of degraded riparian environments in the Brazilian Semiarid.
