Abstract:
A constant challenge for health services has been the guarantee of an effective security assistance, given the constant exposure of professionals to occupational hazards and the spread of cross-infection. Nevertheless, you can modify this context by adopting biosafety standards by everyone involved in the care process - professionals, patients, family and managers in an integrated manner, in order to raise awareness among health professionals about the risk of exposure to infectious agents. This study aims to identify how the scientific literature discusses the importance of using biosecurity measures for nursing. It was used as methodology the integrative literature review that aims to analyze the knowledge built on previous studies on a given topic. They were used as database LILACS and SCIELO selected and 11 articles after inclusion / exclusion. The results showed the weakness in the use of biosecurity by nursing professionals which resulted in several accidents with exposure to biological material, especially in venipuncture and administration of medications. It is important to raise awareness among professionals about the importance of using biosecurity measures which consequently decrease the high rates of accidents, contributing to a safer nursing care.
