This monographic study entitled “The continuing education of teachers in the Rural Schools”, aimed to know the political-pedagogical actions adopted for the continuing training of Rural Teachers in the Public School System in the city of Cajazeiras - PB. For research purpose, this study asked: How is undertaken the continuing education of Rural Teachers and Rural Schools in the city of Cajazeiras – PB. It was based mainly on Caldart (2000; 2002), Freire (1987; 2002), Therrien (1993), Imbernón (2006), as well as the Federal Constitution (1988), the Curricular Guidelines for Rural Education (2002) and the Education and Guidance Law (LDB nº 9394/96). This academic work is a study of exploratory nature with research-action approach and semi-structured interview technique, observation, and thematic categorization of data. During the research it was confronted with the teacher in the face of difficulties in regard to continuing education incoherent to the specificities experienced in the daily life within the Rural School. The result of this research led to the understanding that the process of continuing education of teachers working in Rural Schools in the city of Cajazeiras-PB, needs to undergo an important reflection in order to discuss the difficulties faced by the Education Department in relation to its policies of continuing education to Rural Educators. Founded on the commitment to the human formation of the countryside students and the valorization of the peasant culture. It is noteworthy in this study that continuing education of Rural Teachers must provide with the opportunity to carry out their formations under the aegis of Pedagogies committed to the human formation of the subject field, the fight for rights and the enhancement of their role in culture, in order to ensure an educational process that assists a solid political base to the training course for rural students. Having in view its needs of work and income generation, and objective living conditions in or out the field, if it is desired. This study was developed with a field research conducted with Teachers of Rural Schools and Pedagogical Coordinators from the Department of Education of Cajazeiras - PB.
