From the 1988 Federal Constitution, citizen participation in Brazil in the formulation of public policies and in their supervision became recurring. With the use of new technologies, the relationship between governments and citizens is changing. These technological innovations within public organizations are bringing the concept of e-government. The current world and the New Public Management have required from governments greater transparency and efficiency of processes. The objective of the research was to analyze how e-government contributes to the transparency and efficiency of public administration in the municipalities of West Cariri, region of the State of Paraíba, Brazil (Cariri Ocidental do Estado da Paraíba). Besides, it intends to show the Electronic Government as a tool for transparency of government actions; to fulfill a diagnosis of electronic transparency in the prefectures of West Cariri in accordance with the Law 12.527/2011, about Access to Information, and to assess the importance of citizen participation through access to information. The research is descriptive and exploratory, and of qualitative-quantitative nature. As data collection instrument, we used the Electronic Sites of Municipalities of West Cariri Paraibano and compared the results of the Public Transparency Diagnostic Report /2015 available on the website of the Paraíba State Court of Auditors with the data obtained.
