The knowledge about the formation of fruits and seeds of native species is considered an important tool for a betterunderstanding of the dynamics ofCaatinga, as well as of itsbiology and ecology toenablein the future the management and conservation of natural populations. Thus, there is a need to have the highest number of data and information of the biological cycle of the native species. In this sense, the aim of this work was to study the physiologicalripeness of fruits and seeds of catingueira (Poincianellapyramidalis (Tul.) L.p. Queiroz), previouslyselected in the Caririregion of Paraibastate. The field research wasconducted in the experimentalreservedareafor ecology and dynamicsstudiesof catinga, located at the Federal University of Campina Grande in the SustainableDevelopment Center of Semi-arid at Sumé Campus-PB. The laboratory phase wasconducted in the Ecology and Botany/Nursery lab (CDSA/UFCG). Collectionbegan15 days after anthesis (DAA) and carried on up to the 150th DAA, beingevaluated the following parameters: the colour, the water content of the seeds, as well as the physiologicalquality. According to the data obtained, itwasfound out that the seedphysiologicalmaturityoccurred120 days after anthesis, since from this periodoccurredmaximum values of emergencyand force.
