Resumen:
The project management is a recent and growing topic of administration. This study field
has been formalized as a science in the 1960s on which arose institutions of support to
this new professional, among which highlights the Project Management Institute – PMI,
in which systematically prepare a denominated guide Project Management Body of
Knowledge – PMBOK, aimed at the dissemination of best techniques, tools and methods
until then fostered for the purpose of use project managers as a benchmark of good
practice. Therefore, the objective of this work is to verify the level of applicability of
project management principles, the light of PMBOK in the city of Campina Grande – PB.
The sample is characterized by unintentional probability, that is the organizations that
meet the needs study purposes for the application of the survey instrument, which is
based on the processes of guide knowledge areas. The results showed excellent levels of
applicability, since the average of the knowledge areas had a score of 4.23 in companies
the city of Campina Grande-PB. Thus, the organizations use of proceedings from the
knowledge areas suggested in this study.
