Resumen:
The aim of this study is to learn about the historical and social context of high school
students from a countryside school in the Cariri region of Paraíba in order to identify
the influence of dance in the school context. In the field study, students and exstudents
of a school in São João do Cariri city interviewed. For that, a semistructured
interview script was applied in order to know the opinions and concerns of
the students from the Countryside School.in the Cariri region, and what they think
about the practice of dance as an integrating component in the school environment.
Results from the interviews and observations were categorized from the Content
Analysis proposed by Bardin. From this analysis, it was noticed that as in most
schools, dancing is not a much-worked component, although students show an
interest in learning dances such as, forró, waltz, and break dance in the school
environment. Even though it is not a regular component presented in schools in the
Cariri region of Paraíba, whether through Physical Education and/or Arts classes, in
the field of Languages and Codes and its technologies, the Jornalista José Leal
Ramos State School encourages students during the school's cultural presentations.
