Resumen:
Assessment is an essential procedure for the teaching-learning process, being a huge the responsibility for the one who evaluates and crucial to the development of whom is evaluated. This work approaches the proposal for discussing the learning evaluation in the Sociology teaching in high schools, revealing how the assessment has been treated by the Sociology teaching at the public school EEEFM Prof. José Gonçalves de Queiroz, and also how the students understand what evaluation is. The discussion in this work permeates the idea that the assessment in the Sociology subject should be constructed in a way that students could build their critical thought and could understand that the assessment of their learning is important in order to have their difficulties diagnosed and thereby they can increasingly improve their learning during the development of that school subject. Thus, this study aims to measure how it is being developed the assessment in the aforementioned school and certify the students' understanding about the real objectivity of the evaluation. As a research technique it was used a semi structured interview for teachers and structured questionnaires for students. Through this study, it could be noted that assessment, particularly in the Sociology teaching, is not an easy task due to the short time that is proposed for the subject and the lack of graduated teachers working in the area. Thus, it is explicit the big challenge that teachers face in their action at the process of teaching and learning.
