Resumo:
In their present configurations, jobs are represented as something mandatory and necessary,
resulting from historical transformations through which they have passed until nowadays, and
not faraway from the indispensability of having enjoyment on labour environments, and putting
such an aim as chymerical or upcoming. Once noted that, this present study searches for
questions related to jobs, the subjectivity and the meaning of work to university youths who
belong to the Y generation, based on the studies of Morin (2001, 2007) about the meaning of
jobs, and on the studies of Christophe Dejours (1992, 1993, 2004, 2007) related to work and
subjectivities. Then, we aim at comprehending which are the perceptions university students
have when in contact with the business world about what are jobs and their repercussions in
their experience as university youth workers, The study was made with the help of twelve youth
students, and in terms of the methodological approach, we can characterize it as a descriptive
study, once we have the proposal of demonstrating the reality around work’s phenomena and
the possible effects on the subjects lives. With respect to the field, it is a character of this
research the field research, as this investigation was set on the local where the phenomena
occurs, rising up the perceptions of the research players (VERGARA, 1998). To the data
collecting we took hand of the semi-structured interview, based on the studies of Meaning and
Psychodynamics of jobs, and to the analysis of the data collected, we used the Content Analysis
proposed by Bardin (2006). Based on the data analysis, we can say that to youths of the Y
generation jobs are a source of social identity and salary, not being mandatory the identification
with the job, although they search for it. To these youths, the present configurations of work’s
organizations become mournful; they search for flexibility and autonomy as they are
foundational for the process of personal and creative development, important factors
highlighted by them. Therefore, it is important to search for the transformation of this reality
given the relationship between jobs and subjectivities, and the interference of this relationship
in the mental health of workers, becoming necessary the search for the welfare of these youth
workers of our present and the future of society.
