Resumen:
This work investigated the possibility of introducing the principles of the Solidarity Economy in the education of the deaf of the EJA, at the Presidente Vargas School in Sumé/PB. The research was carried out according to a qualitative approach. The data collection instruments were observation, field notebook recording, and semi-structured interview with deaf students, teacher and Libras (Brazilian sign language) instructor. The general aim was to investigate and analyze the feasibility of applying the Principles of Solidarity Economy in the education of the EJA deaf students, at the Presidente Vargas School in Sumé, making a brief cut about the social exclusion that comes from capitalism and about Solidarity Economy in the EJA, as a proposal of social insertion for deaf people. The Specific goals were to investigate how the teaching-learning process for EJA deaf students of the Presidente Vargas School develops; verifying the approximation of Solidarity Economy principles with the educational and social practices of the deaf; analyzing how the solidarity economy principles could be applied in the education of EJA deaf students of the discussed school and to understand how the Solidarity Economy can contribute to the educational and labor training of the EJA deaf students. The results pointed out to the bilingual educational approach as the one that best allows the development of the deaf student, since it has sign language as mediator in the educational and communicative process. Moreover, it was also verified that the Solidarity Economy can be a feasible alternative in the educational and insertion process of the deaf in a labor activity.
