Associativism and cooperativism are systems of organization whose purpose is to achieve common benefits for its members through collective actions. This work consists of approach to concept of Solidarity Economy, as a mode of production alternative to capitalism, applied in Community Association Duas Serras II, located in municipality of Serra Branca-PB. Characteristics of solidarity enterprise, education developed in the association, as well as community practices and associativism as a tool of local development were taken into account. In the first part of this paper, it was attempted to present a conceptual discussion about dimensions of Solidarity Economy. A bibliographical survey of different authors was used to carry out this work, in what several approaches were directed to associative practices, Solidary Economy, sustainable development, local and social development, as well as group associations. A questionnaire was applied with members to support this research. Analysis of this experience allowed reflection on how they face challenges in their day to day. It can be concluded that work performed was fundamental to understand that, despite the difficulties, the association develops associative practices of self-management, through principles of Solidary Economy.
