Resumo:
This report covers a study of multicase descriptive and exploratory nature of the reality
of companies Sapore d' Italia and the Forno de Pizza, both belonging to the sector of
restaurants and pizzerias in the city of Campina Grande - PB, regarding the succession
issue in the Company family. The research aimed to analyze the familiars and
inheritances aspects present in the two companies. The data of the research were
obtained through interviews with the owners, as well as through questionnaires applied
to the probable successors of the two companies. The results were analyzed in a
qualitative form, based on the five characteristics which according to Dagnani and
Krauss (2007) determine the success of a heir in the control of the family business, they
are: passion for the business, technical competence, exterior experience, desire to leave
your brand and political skill. The study's conclusions indicate that there is still no
formal planning of the succession process in the companies surveyed, however, both
companies have good chances in the future to undertake a succeeded succession
process, provided they are alerted to the variables that interfere in this process and that
is aware of the necessity to plan the succession in due course, in other words, to begin
as soon as possible to prepare a successor, considering that it is a lengthy process and
may put in risk the survival of the company, if it isn’t done so appropriate.
