Resumen:
Faced with the necessity of understanding the dynamics of organisational capacities and
resources, as well as its origin and evolution over time, emerges the concept of capability
lifecycle created by Helfat and Peteraf (2003). This research had as its general objective,
recognizing the organisational capability lifecycle from the occurrence of internal or external
events. For that, the text is organised in five sections, as it follows: Introduction, Theoretical
Review, Methodological Aspects, Presentation and Results Discussion and Conclusion. As
regards to the methodology, the research is classified as: exploratory and descriptive; the
procedure is a case study, and as a form of boarding it is a qualitative research. The treatment
of the data was based on the capability lifecycle model, where it is observed the different
stages of foundation, development and maturity of capabilities, as well as, its evolutionary
paths. The results denote that the studied firm developed a specific capability, identified as
productive process mastery, and that, all criteria related to the stages of the capability
lifecycle, were also identified. Furthermore, it was evidenced an important relation between
the occurrence of events, internal or external to the firm, and the development and evolution
of capabilities.
