Resumo:
This research study aims to analyze the formation of the Feiticeiro Community from the construction of a dam as emergency work of the central government in the dry 1932. The working time frame is the period from 1932 to 1942, ie the first ten years the stay of migrants in the study object space. We take as research sources the newspaper THE PEOPLE; reports, newsletters and photographs produced by IFOCS; and the narratives of employees. The completion of this study was done with the use of theoretical frameworks of Michel de Certeau in relation to the concepts of place, space, strategy, tactics. There was also the inspiration Thompson to deal with social relationships, theater and contrateatro concepts, and interpretation of Georges Balandier before political leaders postures. From the academic point
of view there was a historiographical gap regarding the Community object of study; on a personal level is the opportunity to study about a space which I have emotional ties. The conclusion is reached, after the analysis of the sources, is that the climate crisis and the influence of local power with the government enabled the acquisition of funds for construction of the Dam Joaquim Távora. Part of migrants used as labor in that enterprise decided to stay in space and win access to land and water. The subjects that were traditionally victims of farmers and governments in times of rainfall irregularities, transform their lives to take advantage of the space (re) meant during and after the drought. Politicians have raised the dam, workers and their families staged the formation of the Feiticeiro Community.
