Resumo:
The aim of this study is the biosorption of Cu (II), by two types of sewage sludge obtained
from anaerobic batch reactor (RAB) and anaerobic up flow (UASB), analyze which kinetic
model best describes this process and determine the values of the isothermal model
parameters. The following parameters were monitored during 100 days, vertical up flow
reactor column loaded with 100 g of biosorbents and fed with a copper sulfate solution at a
rate of 500 L day-1. The results showed that for Cu (II) the biosorption process was
satisfactory for both biosorbents. The kinetic model that best described the biosorption
process was the pseudo-second order and the values of the parameters obtained from the
Langmuir isotherm were satisfactory for the UASB sludge. Already obtained from Freundlich
isotherm were satisfactory for the RAB sludge.
