Resumen:
The role of people in organizations is increasing, on large scale, recognition as a major source
of competitive advantage. From this perspective, if the company achieve better results, it is
necessary to use new practices, techniques and policies implemented by the management of
people. The present study focus on the competency management, a new human performance
system, established in the Banco do Brazil S / A. The aim of this study is to investigate
employees’ perception about evaluation model adopted. The methodology is classified as
descriptive according to the purpose and as a case study, according to the means. The unit of
analysis was a branch bank with urban profile, located in the state of Paraiba. The data
analysis shows that, in general, they have a positive attitude towards competency
management. However, the connection between the monitoring process and focus on
professional development, provided the assessment model, is not observed, compared to other
factors.
