This work aims to analyze the social profile of family farming of Livramento - PB city and understand how farmers managed to overcome the current obstacles drought, thought there most of recent times, and to understand what public policies are designed to help these peasants. For this, an exploratory research was done with a qualitative approach by using interview technique. The communities chosen for the interviews were Batalha site, Torrões site, Salitre site, Sussuarana site e Vila Teimosa site, totaling 15 interviews with farmers in these communities. In addition, we used data of the Municipal Secretariat of Agriculture of Deliverance. Among the results, it was found that in the town of Livramento city, there was great concern not only local, but in the state and federal levels for farmers. Several actions were taken to a poverty reduction in the municipality, as well as assistance to these farmers as money through programs like bag drought and crop insurance, as well as food for animals. Another aspect, shown in research shows that farmers who have older are the most work in the fields, in addition to most of them have income from one to two minimum wages and living not only agriculture. Finally, despite the large current drought, farmers of Livramento city did not have very exorbitant losses compared to other areas of the Northeast. Only one of the at some point left his home and was trying to survive in the city and the vast majority will not leave the field.
