Resumo:
Acute Coronary Syndromes (ACS) are the leading cause of death worldwide, and acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is one of the major pathologies of the cardiovascular disease group, where early care and management of the nurse helps in the diagnosis, care, treatment and rehabilitation of the patients affected by this aggravation. Therefore, the study was developed with the objective of evaluating the assistance of nurses of the Emergency and Emergency Service to the victims of AMI. This is a descriptive, exploratory study with a quantitative approach, performed through a semi-structured questionnaire, with nurses from the Emergency and Emergency service of a public hospital in Sousa - Pb. The data collected were analyzed by means of descriptive statistics, with absolute and percentage values, processed by Microsoft Excel 2010 Software, presented in tables, and analyzed according to the literature on the subject. Among the results found, there was a prevalence of the definition of AMI as a lesion of the cardiac muscle, due to the obstruction of an artery. Of all the signs and symptoms cited, the most prominent was chest pain with irradiation. For most professionals, there is no protocol for AMI care in the hospital. Among the various procedures performed, the most frequently mentioned was the electrocardiogram. As for the difficulties in the service, the lack of materials, equipment and medications prevailed. Thus, the study makes it possible to know more about the professional that works in this service, and about their abilities, as well as to evaluate the needs for improvements so that the care provided by the nursing professionals is effectively of quality.
