Résumé:
Nursing is currently responsible for the management and care units, this activity which
involves forecasting, provision, maintenance, control of material and human resources for the
operation of the service. Thus, the work of the nurse manager in the units within the hospital
setting is essential for the organization and coordination of all activities within their unit. This
study aimed to analyze the perception of nurses regarding the management of hospital
services. The research was exploratory, descriptive with qualitative approach. The research
subjects were 07 nurses working in Cajazeiras Regional Hospital, located in Cajazeiras-PB,
Brazil. The data collection instrument used was a semi-structured interview, conducted in
August 2014 The research conformed to Resolution 466/12 of the National Health Council
and forwarded to the Federal University of Campina Grande and Research Ethics Committee.
The responses were grouped according to the technique of content analysis Laurence Bardin,
where 05 categories emerged: The importance of the industry organization in the perception
of nurses; The planning activities performed by nurses; Communication of nurses and other
team members; Supervision of human, material and functions of the nurse manager in the
perception of respondents resources. The data were analyzed according to the literature. The
results showed that the main importance of the industry organization in the perception of
respondents is the continuity of care, ensuring quality care. The planning of the activities of
nurses is related basically to check the list of materials, equipment and personnel. The process
of nurse / nursing staff communication was satisfactory in half of the respondents, while
others thought they needed to improve; however all respondents recognize that good
communication is an indispensable tool for a correct functioning of the service. All the
respondents considered extremely relevant to nursing supervision, as it relates to the
improvement of services offered and the quality of care. The nurses had an extremely
technical vision when it came to the functions of the nurse manager, since the functions cited
by respondents referred to the supervision of nursing staff, materials, organization of the
nursing station, and proper care to patients. We conclude that deficient knowledge about
primary activities for the management of care in hospitals and it is necessary that nurses take
ownership of the role of management as a focus can be played in all areas of their work. For
this, they need to manipulate, acquire knowledge and involve nursing staff in a collective
construction, where the focus is one qualitative nursing care, based on own knowledge on
which to base nursing as care science. It is intended, therefore, do not terminate research on
this topic, and yes, instigating others, because of its importance to the nurse practice to
academia, as well as for society.
