Abstract:
Brazil presents competitive advantages over other countries because of the soil and climate
favourable to the production of raw materials for the production of alternative fuels,
especially in relation to biofuels, such as alcohol and biodiesel. But if we get a complete
replacement of the conventional diesel by biodiesel instead of just making a sum of that
percentage, countries, including Brazil, may not have as large a number of cultivable areas
where they are not being used for food. Still, many countries have shown interest regarding
the use of biodiesel to meet if the measures proposed in the Kyoto Protocol. However, the
advantages of biodiesel overlap their possible disadvantages, leading it to the concept of
better as an alternative fuel for diesel engines of the cycle, since it is less polluting to the
environment than gasoline, which is the fuel currently more used. To that end this work aims
at, through literature search, compare the environmental impacts caused by Biodiesel and
Gasoline.
