The scenario in which they operate organizations is characterized by fierce competition where changes occur remarkably quickly and the difficulties are increasing and constant. Strategically plan, therefore, become indispensable to businesses, primarily to small businesses in view of the fragility of their processes and the difficulties they face. Against this background, this study aimed to analyze the formation of strategy and organizational performance obtained by small businesses in the sector service delivery and sale of computer products. Regarding methodology, the study characterized as descriptive and exploratory and conducted through the case study. We studied five companies in the sector mentioned, from the proposal presented by Santos et AL. (2007). The survey results show that aspects of the formation of strategies that differ from companies with superior performance that had lower performance are: the knowledge already accumulated in the company on the market as being more important for the decision to adopt the strategy that searches and formal reviews, the fulfillment of an agenda for monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the strategy, also focus on actions and strategies of competitors, the firmness of the people who supported the strategic decision in time to implement them and the changes represented by the strategy in relation to hitherto existing in the company.
