Resumen:
In the current world of business, organizations are living the so-called "Age of Information",
where the market is increasingly changing, flexible and competitive, requiring greater capacity
for adaptation and innovation of organizações.Neste context, innovation is the factor as essential
to survival, competitiveness and sustainability of business. Thus the study is organized into five
subsequent chapters namely: Introduction, identification of the company, Rationale theoretical,
methodological procedures and results. The research aimed to identify the innovative capacity of
the Sebrae / PB, by the application of the model CPGEI - characteristics and management
practices of innovative companies, proposed by Oliveira and Candido (2007). The model was
applied in CPGEI Sebrae / CP, as a way of assessing their innovative capacity. The methodology
used is a descriptive and exploratory. The analysis of the characteristics and management
practices are conditioned dimensions strategy, physical environment, communication,
organizational structure, performance as a team, people, innovation and technology, and
organizational learning environment. The confirmation of the majority (over 50% ¨) of the
dimensions allows classify a company as innovative. The data collection has been by
questionnaire and no participant observation, and the data were analyzed in order quantity. Mere
positively evaluated were: strategy, organizational structure, performance as a team, people,
innovation and technology and organisational learning. Mere negatively evaluated were: physical
environment, communication and environment. This study, through the proper analysis, shows
that the Sebrae / PB is a company with characteristics and management practices typical of
innovative businesses.
