This work aims to develop an electrical data quantity acquisition system that is adaptable for monitoring and determining several parameters used in electrical systems. To validate the device’s adaptability this paper proposes a low cost three-phase power quality meter. Due to its characteristics, the meter can be applied to residential or small businesses use. The proposed device is based on the power definitions from IEEE Standard 1459-2010. It calculates the rms voltage and current values, the total and individual harmonic distortion, besides the voltage unbalance factor. In order to evaluate algorithm of the power quality simulations results are presented and to evaluate the meter under various conditions and power loading experimental results are presented. The results are shown on a web page that can be accessed by any device with internet access. This work achieved successfully almost all the initial objectives including
the low cost system’s design.
