Abstract:
This paper has as perspective to analyze and to understand the strategies of peasant
reproduction based on the perspective of agroecology in the Rural Settlement of the
Municipality of Cajazeiras-PB, where it was necessary to make a discussion about the
geographical categories Space making a parallel with the concept of Peasantry and agrarian
question of Paraíba and Brazil, in order to understand the context in which these families were
configured in the scenario of settlement of the agrarian reform.The research was based on a
survey of the agroecological experiences that are carried out by the farmers of the settlement
Santo Antônio in the Municipality of Cajazeiras - PB and has the character of subsistence as
of commercialization in the Fair Agroecológica de Cajazeiras-PB where the own peasants
participate, we highlight the execution of a social project of the Frei Beda Institute for Social
Development (FBISD) in partnership with CPT-Sertão / PB in the Program for the
Strengthening of Agroecology and Coexistence with the Semi-Arid (ECOFORTE). The
methodology used in the research is classified as exploratory and descriptive, of a qualitative /
quantitative nature. The data collection was done from semi-structured interviews,
depoiments from farmers and family members, field study and participant observation. It is
concluded that the agro-ecological practice in rural settlements is a fundamental element for
the change of life of the peasants, especially when they lived as sharecroppers and lessees of
the land that belongs to it today. eing able to perceive in their depoiments the satisfaction of
being able to stay in the place of origin and work free of pesticides and monocultures,
integrating a new system based on the precepts agroecological and living with the semi-arid,
valuing traditional knowledge and their experiences of peasant association associating new
initiatives of experience leading to the qualification of knowledge.
