Resumen:
Sustainable development isnow asubjectverydebatedat all levelsof society.The impactthat theuncontrolled exploitationof naturalresources causes,has broughttolight thefragility of our planetin the face ofhuman attitudes. Thus,it is fundamentalrethinkmodes ofproduction and developmentaimed ateconomic, socialand environmental sustainability.Theprocess mappingcansupport the organizationin the pursuitof this goal, reviewingattitudes andpractices andmaking effectiveimprovementstowardsbettersustainability.Thus, this study aims at discovering how Accounting and Finance Department of the University Hospital AlcidesCarneiro, located in Campina Grande city can innovate in its processes in pursuit of better sustainability. Regarding the methodological procedures, the research presents descriptive and exploratory character, in the form of case study. As data collection instruments were used process mapping of each function in the sector, non-participant observation and unstructured and semi-structured interviews with collaborators working in the sector. The data was analysed through Excel and Bizagi software resources. The analysis of the data is characterized as qualitative. The research results demonstrate that the efficiency and quality of processes are not satisfactory due to the lack of IT resources and people to compose the staff. In regarding sustainability, the sector needs more oriented-action in order to obtain results that are favourable to it. However, easy motions to be put into practice can assist the sector driven innovation process to the three dimensions of sustainability.
