This study aimed to diagnose the types and use of pesticides in the watershed dam in Congo Lamb - CP and assess the environmental impacts caused by these . The area experienced was analyzed based on field visits , from which a model questionnaire was applied to ten (10) working farmers on the banks of the dam, to characterize the socioeconomic profile of these workers , use and type of pesticides used , as well as the environmental contamination by the use of pesticides . On the other hand , another questionnaire was directed to the secretary of agriculture of the county of Congo - PB , referring to surveillance , guidance and control of the use of these , to which workers are exposed , the population and the environment . The results above indicate that most farmers use pesticides and always used in their agricultural activities , and 72 % buy these products freely in the market . It was found that 100 % of respondents said they despise agronomic prescription required by law when purchasing pesticides . The survey also showed that storage of chemicals is performed irregularly, but also the lack of awareness among farmers regarding the disposal of packaging of chemicals , for about almost 80 % are played on the field or burnt causing impacts to the environment. This results from the lack of guidance on product handling and disposal of empty containers in addition to ignorance about the effectiveness of management techniques advocated by organic agriculture necessary for sustainable development.
