Resumo:
This study aimed to present the practice of composting and verify the perception of students from the 7 th grade levelI Ion the need for conservation of soils, from conversations, present in glectures and workshops. The activities were conducted in two groups of Escola Agrotécnica de Ensino Fundamental Dep. Evaldo Gonçalves de Queiroz. The methodology consisted of literature research, experimental and descriptive, with the application of a questionnaire to know the students' prior knowledge about composting, followed by lectures with narration and monitoring of all stages of a composting process, and the socialization of knowledge about soil sand agroecology through lectures and workshops given in Seedling Nursery. The results showed that composting, besides being simple, inexpensive and practical utilization of organic waste generated in the countryside or in the city, serves as an excellent tool for promoting environmental education, warning of the risk of proliferation of diseases and contamination of water and soil management and disposal arising by inadequate waste organic, demonstrating composting as an alternative soil conservation, especially in the context of the semiarid region.
