In process of English language teaching-learning, as well as in other languages, there are many difficulties encountered by students one of them is desmotivation. In the process of teaching-learning is teacher’s role to seek educational alternatives that integrates pleasure and learning, so that there is a facilitation. In an attempt to promote the student the desire for knowledge is necessary the use of the playful as a methodology in the classroom. This work aims to reflect about the contribution of recreational activities in the teaching-learning process in English language classes, taking into consideration the current contexto of language teaching, according to the National Curriculum Parameters (NCP),the Common National Base Curriculum (CNBC) and the National Curriculum Guidelines. Therefore was used a literature search, based on theoretical dealing with the playful and theoretical arguing over language teaching. Despite the view of many people who see the playful as simple hobby is notorious for solving problems as motivation in English classes, facilitate the development of communication skills (listening, writing, Reading and speaking), contribute to the autonomy of the students, as well as providing a pleasant and meaning learning.
