Abstract:
The Cleaner Production (CP) aims to carry out measures to reduce the impacts that the organizations can cause on the environment. Taking into consideration the production of Cachaça, it is observed that there are several residues generated, which can be reused in the productive process itself. Thus, this study aims to check the practices of the cleaner production to management residues of the productive process in a engenho of cachaça in the city of Areia - PB. This research is classified as a case study and descriptive, using as a basis the three levels of PML proposed by the National Center for Clean Technologies - CNTL (2003). The data collection was done through interviews applied to the owner of the engenho, which is guided by a semi-structured instrument and for direct observation in visits at the local of the production process in the months of July and August 2015. The information collected were studied by qualitative analysis, making it possible to identify the aspects related to cleaner production, from the levels proposed by the tool, practices and studied variables. The results indicate that the level II - Internal Recycling has more prominent among the levels provided by the tool, is therefore, large part of the residues generated returns to the productive process, on the other hand, level I - Reduction in the source is less present, do no way to avoid the generation of residues generated at source, however, the search engenho studied alternatives for appropriate disposal of the same. And the Level III - External Recycling and Biogenic Cycles is present in the engenho in a moderate way, because some of the residues such as sugar cane bagasse, are sold to other companies to be use in their processes, moreover, one of the residues generated by the engenho (straw) is used as organic composting, thus avoiding possible harm to the environment.
