Résumé:
Project management is considered an area of knowledge vital to the success of businesses, because every increment of improvement, new product development, strategic actions and meet the specific demands of clients is done through projects. The main reasons for problems related to the projects are the lack of adequate management and standardization of processes, ie, the main cause of failures in the projects are not the specifics of what actually went wrong, but the lack of procedures, methodology and standards. Therefore, it is concluded that the procedures for accepting the Project Management is one of the critical factors for the success of projects. This study aims to determine the incidence of critical success factors in the implementation of project management in a project office in Campina Grande - PB, through the factors proposed by Fortune and White (2006). To this end, a qualitative research, exploratory was performed through a case study. Data collection occurred through semistructured interview based. The results indicate that among the critical success factors discussed in the interview, four factors are not taken into account in implementing the projects, they are: the detailed plan of the project and updated; solid project plan; realistic timeline; and risks assessed. And with that, it was found that the critical success factors that the company considers not directly influence the reasons of the failures identified by the project manager. Thus, it was observed that the four factors are closely linked so that the nonexecution of a significantly interfere in the execution of others, so the intensity of the critical factors of management are used in projects generate impact on income earned. This highlights the importance of adopting an appropriate methodology for the development of projects, thus reducing the chances of failures and delays in deliveries.
