Resumo:
With the emergence of the field of microfinance, microcredit born directed to the profile of entrepreneurs who, because they lack collateral, ended up being excluded from the traditional financial market. Thus, microcredit stimulates and give conditions for these entrepreneurs to invest in productive activities, encouraging them to mutual accountability, self-sufficiency of their business and also to the economic and social inclusion. In this context, microcredit democratizes access to credit and therefore is considered an instrument of extreme importance for the development policies of economic and social. The present study aimed to trace a diagnosis of characteristics of microcredit program of Banco Santander. Therefore, we adopted a study of descriptive characteristics of a qualitative nature, being a case study, in which data were collected initially in documents supplied by the institution itself, being formalized through publication of books, published articles and use two questionnaires. The main results showed consolidation in the market due to a new positioning of the bank in the form of credit in order to add more value to the society in which the bank operates through a new role, being also the microcredit program financially viable and profit generator for the institution that carries out, in addition to the economic and social inclusion.
