Resumo:
There is a shortage of doctors in Brazil, which contributes to the worsening of the public health quality
in the country. The shortage of doctors, especially in remote locations of major cities, led the Brazilian
government to create the More Doctors Program in Brazil, which recruited Brazilian and foreign
doctors to places where the need for these health professionals is urgent. Thus, this qualitative research
aims to analyze the implementation and impacts of the More Doctors Program in Boqueirão town,
located in cariri region of Paraíba State. The corpus of this research was formed by health
professionals and public officials involved in the program as well as the population served by these
professionals. We conclude that the More Doctors Program reached its goal of bringing medical
professionals to needy places and, despite the lack of adequate facilities in some units, it is possible to
notice a considerable improvement in the service to users. To conduct this study was fundamental
considerations: Augusto (1989), Arcoverde (2012), Belloni, Magellan and Sousa (2007), Rodrigues
(2010) Roncalli (2003), Sarreta (2009) and Silva (2009).
