Resumo:
Nowadays, the most important resource is knowledge rather than financial capital, and that is
where work life quality has its role. It can be used as a means to obtain competitive
advantage, by attracting and maintaining talented people. This study is the result of research
done at industry of pieces of furniture, with the objective of analyzing the indicators of work
life quality as seen by employees in the administrative sector. In order to consolidate this
study, we decided to use Richard Walton’s theoretical model which is composed of eight
criteria, each one with its respective indicators. As to the methodology, we opted for a kind of
research which is exploratory and descriptive. The data collection was done through direct
observation, an interview with a Human Resources analyst and a questionnaire containing 35
questions directed to the employees in order to measure their degree of satisfaction regarding
the criteria and WLQ. The data revealed that although the employees are dissatisfied with the
salaries, benefits, and promotion prospects, they say that they enjoy their work and feel
happy with what they do. They affirm that they have respect for, and feel proud of, the
company where they work. It was also observed that the interpersonal relationship is very
good, the labor rights are respected, and that there is balance between their professional and
personal lives. With all this, we conclude that even if the company does not measure up to
some indicators, the employees feel content with their work.
