Résumé:
Every day, thousands of tons of garbage have inadequate disposal in dumps or landfills with resulting harmful impact on the environment, making this one of the major contemporary questions for public actions. In the municipality of Sumé is not distinct because, despite being a small town of population, the historical absence of governmental actions are making solid waste a prominent challenge for current and future administrations, therefore, this problem has gained such proportions as may be irreversible in a short timeline. Thus, it is urgent and relevant public action, by implementing more efficient and effective measures. Given the difficulties observed for the storage of solid waste, used in the municipality of Sumé (which is landfill) and the restriction of municipal resources has the public-private partnership as a real and plausible for the dissolution of the problem instrument. Within this context, this study was conducted in the municipality of Sumé having general objective measurement of the importance of selective collection and recycling as a tool for environmental conservation. Unfortunately, the results showed the absence of effective public actions for the selective collection and the people involved (scavengers). Justified this action by social empirical observation, where the sorting of waste and proper disposal of recyclable materials are extremely important for the environment as well, this process also contributes to social interest, because many poor people depend City this type of material to survive.
