Resumen:
The environmental crisis has emerged in the international debate on the need for a new development model that addresses the environmental, social and economic, called Sustainable Development. A major goal of this proposal is the change in consumption patterns and levels of current, considered unsustainable due to environmental impacts they generate, as well as social inequalities that permeate because the increase in consumption levels and patterns in recent decades has worsened the impacts to the environment, in terms of degradation of nature and natural resource depletion. Thus, it becomes necessary to assess consumer behavior that demonstrate their consumption practices and trends for the adoption of standards and levels of conscious consumption. The overall goal of this research is to evaluate the behavior of consumer awareness of students of the Federal University of Campina Grande. Therefore, in terms of methodology, we carried out a survey of quantitative and descriptive, in order to observe, record and describe events without influencing them by checking consumption practices commonly used by students from the query to a sample not probabilistic obtained by accessibility. The results show that students surveyed do not maintain positive attitudes about the dimensions analyzed and, despite the obvious environmental problem nowadays, students interviewed did not have a level of awareness toward the preservation of natural resources or concern about damage to nature for their consumption practices. Such evidence demonstrates the need for investments to training these young people in terms of environmental education in order to promote a higher level of awareness and commitment to environmental issues. Because of this, here must be a greater willingness to everyone looking for a healthy environment through conscious attitudes that foster the conservation of nature in a sustainable way.
