Résumé:
The present
research focuses on the appropriation and development of writing by students of
Youth and Adult Education (EJA), a teaching modality that is configured to present the stages
of primary and secondary education of the Brazilian public school network. The stu dents
involved in this modality, for some reasons, were not able to attend school at the appropriate
age, which comprises the years of basic education, and this gives them serious difficulties of
social participation by the uses of language. Based on this, the main objective of this research
is to analyze and describe the acquisition and appropriation of the writing system of students
of this segment of education in the light of the interactionist approach. The research is
qualitative, applied and ethnograp hic. The subjects are students of the 1st and 2nd EJA
segments of a public school in the city of Cachoeira dos Índios (PB). The theoretical
framework that bases this research are the studies of Antunes (2003), Oliveira (2010), Rocha
(s / d), Ferreiro and T eberosky (1999), Bronckart (1999), Soares (2013) and Marcuschi among
others, who have now a days made great contributions in the field of teaching and learning of
writing as a social practice. The purpose of such research was to generate public policies to
deal with the difficulties of acquisition and appropriation of writing for apprentices of this
type of teaching at municipal, regional and even national level.
